Hotel Pro Forma staging rachmaninov
Premiere on 16 June 2015 at La Monnaie de munt, Brussels
Title: Rachmaninov Troika. Music: Rachmaninov. Conductor: Mikhail Tatarnikov
On 16 June 2015 Rachmaninov Troika, a trilogy including the operas Aleko, The Miserly Knight, and Francesca da Rimini, will premiere at La Monnaie de Munt’s temporary home the Théâtre National in Brussels. Rachmaninov Troika is the first project to be presented outside La Monnaie´s opera house, while it is being renovated. This has enabled the artistic team of Hotel Pro Forma to create a site-specific scenography suited to the Théâtre National’s imposing interior.
The artistic team includes director Kirsten Dehlholm, co-director Jon R. Skulberg, light designer Jesper Kongshaug, video designer Magnus Pind Bjerre, and stage designer Maja Ziska, costume designer Manon Kündig, and dramaturg Krystian Lada. The staging is based on a strong visual score in the “tradition” of a genuine Hotel Pro Forma production.
Mikhail Tatarnikov of St Petersburg’s Mikhailovsky Theatre is responsible for the music direction. The cast consists almost entirely of native Russian singers, and includes among others Sergei Leiferkus, Alexander Vassiliev, Kostas Smoriginas and Anna Nechaeva.
