KIKKUUVUGUT // WHO ARE WE
Kaffemik at Hotel Pro Forma
7 November 2014
On Friday, 7 November from 17-21, you are invited to celebrate the lost and found in translation at Hotel Pro Forma Lounge.
SIGBJØRN BRATLIE
Norwegian Sigbjørn Bratlie puts language in the spotlight. His most recent works are a product of intensive language study, social risk and improvisation that inspire critical and sometimes comical reflections on the human relationship.
KIKKUUVUGUT is a videoinstallation and a performance born from Sigbjørn’s rigorous artistic process. This evening, six months of Greenlandic language study culminate in Sigbjørn’s first live Greenlandic conversation and the presentation of the video installation ‘Kikkuuvugut’. Here, audiences from all backgrounds can investigate how the act of understanding is ‘who we are’, in any language.
Atelier Hotel Pro Forma’s seven international interns celebrate and elaborate upon Sigbjørn’s themes of linguistic complexity and humor.
You can watch performances of Google Translate playing a less than helpful role in Scandinavian conversations! Or sound out the tongue twisters of different languages at our karaoke station!
To conclude the evening as an act of universal understanding, enjoy a live classical guitar performance by Greenlander Ulrik Villads Jeremiassen / Inuk.
