THE APARTMENT / 2015

THE APARTMENT

Identity Collapse on 3 sq.m.

9 April 2015

Thursday, April 9, Atelier Hotel Pro Forma moves into Tårnrummet in Nikolaj Kunsthal.

In 2013, the British stage director Julian Maynard Smith opened The Metropolis Festival with the monumental piece ‘Dominoes’ where thousands of dominoes fell through all of Copenhagen. Now he is back as the artist-in-residence at Atelier Hotel Pro Forma. At this Lounge Julian will present the first stage in the development of his current project THE APARTMENT.

‘We think ourselves to be unique and inviolate, but in reality we change all the time according to the social context we are in. So what defines our identity?’ – Julian Maynard Smith

THE APARTMENT is a combination of live performance and video projection, which investigates how other people influence our identity and the understanding of ourselves as individuals.

In THE APARTMENT several performers occupy the same space. It is no longer a question of who is who, but how their identities blend together.

Hotel Pro Forma Lounge is produced by Atelier Hotel Pro Forma, which consists of international artists-in-residence and artistic interns, all selected by artistic director Kirsten Dehlholm and all working on Hotel Pro Forma’s own productions.

LOUNGE: THE APARTMENT
Identitetskollaps på 3 kvm

Torsdag d. 9. april rykker Atelier Hotel Pro Forma ind i Tårnrummet i Nikolaj Kunsthal.

I THE APARTMENT indtager forskellige performere det samme rum.
