The title refers to the Sovjet Union in the 1920es and the true, revolutionary excitement and belief at the technical future of that time. All that also was expressed in art, architecture, design etc. Thus the new structures of society were transformed into abstract patterns printed on fabric and entitled as “Electricity”, “Tunnel”, Five-Year Plan in Four Years”, Radio for the Village” etc.

The place of the performance is the National Museum that now is being changed fundamentally from an old to a new technological modern museum. The museum and its situation are implemented.

The street is closed for traffic, so that the column passage and the street function as a closed area for the stage and the audience.

Big paintings, machines and materials are placed in groups as special installations, as contextualized images of the thoughts and minds of that time, and as comments to the art of The New Time. The revolution that becomes decoration, then and every time.

The theme of the art exhibition is dramatically underlined by Shostakovich´s 14. Symphony, that is being played from the many radios placed along the columns. The symphony is simultaneously a radio broadcasting. The two voices, soprano and baryton, are sung live by two opera singers, walking and standing by the columns. The libretto, all of them dealing with the war, the love and the death, are sung in Russian.

Soldiers on ladders clean the columns, smoke and fire is burning, the gate opens and the people come rushing out into the street as a glowing appearance. Serenity and simplicity is changed by festivity and confusion like a sporadic sight which soon disappears again. The alarm clocks ring – and it is time to wake up.
