AMDUAT. AN OXYGEN MACHINE
In season 2019/20 we will produce AMDUAT. AN OXYGEN MACHINE, the second part of the trilogy, which examines our relationship with death and its rituals. The word Amduat means “what is in the underworld”. It is the name of the ancient Egyptian understanding of the land of the dead. On stage, the performance presents one performer, six dancers, a boy, and a DJ.
The text for AMDUAT is written by contemporary Danish writer Harald Voetmann, inspired by the ancient Egyptian death book, composed of new texts inspired by the actual experience of loss when the author’s father died of leukemia a few years back in a hospital in Denmark. Music and sound design will be created by a contemporary Danish DJ of Pakistani-origin and a Danish sound designer. Video design by a video artist who was part of the NeoArctic and Rachmaninov Troika artistic teams, and visual art/sculptures by young female artist.
World premiere April, 2019, Østerbro Teater, CPH.
