Hiroaki Umeda workshop

på Dansens Hus i København

13 juni 2009, kl. 11:00

“The body is the closest other to myself. In the body action and reaction happen at the same time. Dance is a way to make the body an object. I would like to install the human body as an object in space.”

Hiroaki Umeda was born in 1977 and currently lives and works in Tokyo. He studied photography at Nihon University, Japan, and decided to start dancing at the age of 20 having trained in classical ballet and hip-hop. In 2000 Umeda founded his own company « S20 ». Since then he has presented his performances at cutting-edge dance festivals all over the world.
Umeda is a pluridisciplinary artist : choreographer, dancer, sound, image and lighting designer. His work is both minimal and radical, subtle and violent. In the workshop Hiroaki Umeda will focus on how to relax the body and how to develop movement. The workshop is aimed at everyone interested in movement.
