Today’s Cake is a Log is a performative exhibition especially curated for GL STRAND, an art institution in Copenhagen. In close collaboration with GL STRAND, Hotel Pro Forma develops a hybrid, which shows works from the last 30 years, while also presenting the exhibition space in a new Hotel Pro Forma staging.
The works from 30 years of international artistic activity move out of the archives, out of the theatre and straight into the framework of visual art. View, or re-view images and sequences from the manga-opera War Sum Up, experience the choir on the staircase from the worldwide success of Operation:Orfeo, or refresh your memory of the Hans Christian Andersen performance I only Appear to be Dead. Iconic images merge with completely new works in a series of site specific installations.
Live programme: Nonstop during the exhibition period, performers will read from the many different texts written especially for Hotel Pro Forma productions by the best Danish writers and poets. This takes place in the middle of a huge painting created as the view seen from the windows of the building. Another room is inhabited by one performer looking like one of the figurants from War Sum Up.
